Coping with Crisis and Urgent Support

If someone is in mental health crisis and their life is at risk, call 999 now or go to A&E.

If someone is in crisis, there are other routes of support.

  • NHS urgent mental health helplines can provide 24 hour help for you and your loved ones, refer you to speak with a professional and conduct an assessment. If you are in England, you can find your local urgent mental health helpline here.

  • The Samaritans have a helpline that is open 24/7 and can be reached on 116 123.

  • Use the Shout crisis text line by texting SHOUT to 85258.

  • The YoungMinds Parents Helpline is available 9:30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday on 0808 802 5544
